Keyboard Tester

Test every key on your keyboard in real time with visual feedback and detailed key events.

The Keyboard Tester shows a visual keyboard for five common layouts and highlights every physical key as you press it. It reports the event key, code, key code, location, repeat state and active modifiers, and keeps a rolling event log for checking stuck keys or unusual input.

Frequently asked questions

Does the tool detect which physical key I pressed?

Yes. It uses KeyboardEvent.code, so it follows the physical key position even when the active system layout differs.

Why are some browser or system shortcuts missing?

Operating-system and browser shortcuts are handled before the page sees them, and this tool does not preventDefault to avoid breaking normal browsing.
