MAC Address Generator

Generate random MAC addresses with configurable format, case and prefix.

The MAC Address Generator creates random 48-bit MAC addresses with selectable separators, letter case and count. It can enforce unicast or multicast and locally administered bits, or keep a custom prefix.

How to use

  1. Choose count, separator and letter case.
  2. Optionally enter a custom prefix and set unicast or local flags.
  3. Generate and copy the address list.

Frequently asked questions

What does locally administered mean?

It sets the local bit so the address is not tied to a vendor OUI.

Can I keep a custom prefix?

Yes, a six-byte prefix is preserved exactly when provided.

Are these addresses valid on a network?

They are formatted as valid MAC addresses, but assigning random addresses on a live network should be done carefully.
